In 2025, millions of Singaporeans experienced this wonderful surprise as the government launched enhanced assistance to alleviate their cost-of-living pressures and celebrate the nation’s 60th anniversary.
An Enhanced Assurance Package: At the Core of It
Considerably enhancing the Assurance Package in the 2025 Budget as articulated by Prime Minister Wong on February 18. An initiative going ahead for multiple years, set-up originally just to offset GST hikes, now sees another S$1.2 billion for various cash disbursements, vouchers, rebates, and top-ups to households.
Under the package, Singapore citizen adults aged 21 years and above would be given graded cash payouts over 2022 to 2026-this plan would now serve in 2025, depending on their property ownership and income status.
SG60 Special Vouchers
With the generous SG60 benefits in 2025, Singapore celebrated its 60th national independence. Every person who is a citizen of Singapore and is more than 21 years of age received vouchers amounting to $600 for those between ages 21 and 59 and $800 for the old aged between 60 and over. In the event of identification of elders who would like to share vouchers given to the young, with use supported from July 2025 for payment, vouchers would support daily expenses.
In one great leap in 2025, eligible HDB homes qualified for doubled U-Save rebates in a total up to $760 each year. The government will credit them quarterly to offset the rise in utility bills.
Added U-Save assistance of the one-off cost-of-living to help more eligible flats are forthcoming. Children and the elderly will additionally get their MediSave top-ups, thus building their health savings.
